The Pawn was first released by Magnetic Scrolls in 1985 for the Sinclair QL with the Atari ST and Commodore Amiga versions being released laster in 1986. The game received critical acclaim due to its incredible detailed graphical locations and an intelligent text parser allowing the adventurer to naturally interact with the game.
A demo of the game has now been released for the new ZX Spectrum Next with full graphics – a text only version of the game was released on the Spectrum 128K some time back.
The Pawn on the Next is only ever going to be a playable demo but what has been done is quite impressive, even though the parsor only allows movement around the limited world. We have tried to get the game running on the Next board we have but unfortunately at this time it crashes out.
