You know, there were only 3 games that I ever really gave a lot of time to when it came to Bullfrog. Dungeon Keeper 2, Populous and Syndicate. This no doubt shows that I was never really a strategy player. The mere thought of all that decision making and tedious waiting for the consequences made me want to go off and play something a little less mundane.
There were times though that I would feel compelled to get stuck into what everyone else was doing and Syndicate did just that. It was similar to Cannon Fodder in that you managed soldiers around the map trying to take out the bad guys and keep the world a better place.
That was where the similarities ended though. The viewpoint was isometric and there was more strategy involved with time required for research and development to upgrade your characters and their weaponry. With the style of game that this is, it would be hard to imagine a new version of it, although it has been hinted at from time to time from the then head of Bullfrog, Lionhead’s Peter Molyneux, with an on-line version being the main thoughts behind it. Then EA said they’d be doing something, but again nothing has been set in stone.
No harm in getting some justice served in the bad city, right enough.
