The game Shadow of the Unicorn Has a little bit of a well known history – it was pretty much the death of the rather successful UK company Mikro-Gen. Coming with a peripheral to give the Spectrum some extra memory, this was meant to be the future of gaming but fell way short due to a lack luster game that cost way more than the average teenager could afford at the time due to the inflated price due to the included hardware.
Currently on E-bay, there is an auction for a sealed version of the game – it is a part of a collection that got recognised by the Guinness Book of records as being the largest for the Spectrum and the buy it now price is a whopping £600 (you get a certificate as well that tells you this game has come from a special selection). Is the game worth £600 – well it has not been sold yet and I guess that question is for the serious collectors.
It’s nice to see this game, but I think I will give it a miss this time. Link for the auction is HERE
