This is where my gaming age kicks in. DMA Design means nothing to today’s gamers who have ‘teen’ at the end of how old they are. If you begin to mention the words grand, theft and auto then they get interested, but for the rest of us who are of that required vintage, we know that this was their most successful title on the Amiga. They had others, but this had the most endearing playability and widespread access of their back catalogue.
The premise was incredibly simple; guide the hapless lemmings from start to finish by any means necessary. As the levels went on, so did the difficulty level and then the anger would ramp up, along with the frustration until eventually you were ready to explode with as much fury as the games very own weapon of mass lemming genocide.
There have been other games in the series that have tried to claw back the fun and addictiveness that the original had, but it has never really happened.
